Culpeper, Virginia offers a colorful history since it played a vital part in both the U.S. Revolutionary War and the Civil War. The Culpeper Minutemen were formed in 1775 in “Clayton’s Old Field” near Yowell Meadow Park. Other historic features include the county courthouse which was built in 1750 and the historic Fairview Cemetery, which dates back to the 1800s. The cemetery includes a memorial for Confederate soldiers, which was built in 1881.
Since the area is nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Rappahannock River and the Rapidan River, there is plenty to keep you busy. Culpeper is also close to Washington, D.C. for a little getaway.
